Mr. Sumit Somaiya is the Founder
and Chief Instructor of Martial Art Academy of
India. He was Post Graduated in Physical Education
from the Saurastra University.
Mr. Sumit Somaiya was born in 1993 in Mangrol of Junagadh Dist in Gujarat (India). From the age of 10 Sumit had passion for Sports & Martial Arts. He started learning Karate from the age of 12 from Nachiketa Vidhya Mandir Mangrol & RSS. He also started learning Taekwon Do and Karate from a Gopal Master And Niyuddh (empty Hand) at the age of 10. From the age of 17 to 22, He learned judo and continued to learn karate & Kick Boxing as well. He participated in Karate, Judo, Wresling, Taekwon do Competition in State, National Level Competition From SGFI, University & Federation Games In India.
At the age of 20, Sumit Moved to Rajkot City of Gujarat for teaching Karate in schools and colleges. To popularize his karate, he had given Training in Suraksha Setu Project organized by Gov. of Gujarat. Many karate demonstrations were given in all around Rajkot, Junagadh & Amreli District in Gujarat, India. In 2017, he started karate classes in Junagadh and started giving martial Art Training. He had given 15 major karate demonstrations and got Karate Black Belt Sodan from JKS & Bino-ryu Karate International.
Seeing his rigorous training and enormous interest in karate, Grandmaster S. Srinivasan invited him for a special training in Hydrabad. In May 2017, he went a 21 Days advanced training in Japan and returned back to Junagadh with a coveted Black belt Nidan from Karate Bino-ryu International. He started developing MAAI throughout Gujarat and became one of the most favorite national student of Grandmaster Mr. S. Srinivasan. He travelled to Hydrabad almost every year for his training and stayed for longer durations and thus achieving black belt Sandan in 2019.
Awards were never a hurdle for his personal training and Mr. Sumit was looking for great masters in the Gujarat for his individual training in Martial Art. Which has been his passion right from the beginning. He underwent an advanced training in Japan Karate Shotokai at the national training program under Mr. Pasa, Mr. Salim & Mr. Ramesh in India Since 2016 to present. He said that the training he got under Asai Sensei was the turning point in his life. He also got the direct recognition and affiliation from Grand Master for his Japan Karate Shotokai – India (JKS India).
